Steve Moody Brings Disc Jockey Industry’s Top Prize Home To Maryland
To professional athletes it’s called the “Superbowl”, for beauty queens it may be the “The Miss America Pageant”… and in the world of Professional Mobile Disc Jockeys across America it’s the Annual “DJ Of The Year Competition” held in Atlantic City, N. The competition is the one major event within the industry that everyone is watching. This year, as the dust settled, Caroline County resident Steve Moody walked away with the most coveted prize in his profession. Therefore, for the very first time since it’s inception, the DJ Of The Year award has been brought to the state of Maryland!
The competition, which took place at The Trump Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino, has become a staple of the Annual International DJ Expo. This yearly convention for professional disc jockeys, hosted by leading industry magazine “DJ TIMES”, brings together thousands of entertainers from across the country. Similar to a family reunion, it’s a virtual “who’s who” of the disc jockey profession. As a result, the annual get- together attracts everyone from old pros and dj hall of famers… to young entertainers just getting started in the business. Seminars feature information on sales and marketing, performance technique, the latest gear and most importantly a chance to make new business contacts. At the same time, the convention showroom is open with all of the latest in lighting, sound equipment and other gadgets entertainers can’t wait to get their hands on.
After three days of seminars, workshops, and networking (August 10 – 14), Moody took to the stage on the final night of the convention for the highly anticipated competition, which featured the absolute “best of the best” from across the country. With an excited audience of their peers and judges, the 12 contestant’s routines ran the gambit from sharing new party games, to the latest dances.
At the conclusion of the final entertainer’s performance, the judge’s scores were tallied and accolades were awarded in 5 different categories. Participants were judged in several areas including their opening speech, level of professionalism, audience reaction and interaction, appearance, microphone technique, and the substance of their actual routine. To his excitement, Moody was awarded two honors, “Best New Game of 2009”…and the award he has worked for 20 years to achieve “2009 DJ Of The Year”.
Master of Ceremonies for the competition and owner of the New Jersey based “Elite Entertainment”, Mike Walter had this to say about Moody’s achievement: “Steve's performance at the DJ of the Year Competition this year was dynamic and organized. It's not easy to win with a game as opposed to a dance but Steve proved it is possible if you have the right MC skills and if you know how to set-up and execute a smooth routine. Steve did all that in front of his peers and a panel of judges (no easy task) and in doing so, brought home the coveted DJ Times DJ Of the Year Award. Congratulations Steve!”
Become Steve's Facebook Friend!
Steve
has gotten a few
e-mails asking about Facebook from those who weren't quite sure what
it is all about. It has been around for a while now, but he just got
on. To be quick and simple about it, Facebook is pretty much your own
tiny little website. You can post pictures and information about yourself,
your family, etc. The program
helps you connect with folks that you may have known from school,
work, socail groups etc. You do have to create an account, but it's
free. Once you have your account you can put in as much or as little
info about yourself as you like. The more info you input, the easier
for the program to find folks that you may know who are also members.
In the past few weeks Steve has reconnected with many folks from high school, his days in radio, his time spent in theatre, church family, and of course older family and friends. It is so easy to stay updated with what is going on in everyone's life. For those that value their privacy, you may also configure your account settings so that only your personal friends can read your info. Just a neat way to stay in touch and share pictures, videos etc. To visit Steve's Facebook page, follow this link: www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Moody/1135760996.
